An Australian Christmas menu…

We recently hosted 17 adults and 9 babies for a Christmas lunch, the perfect way to road-test a new house (especially the kitchen!). The secret to it running smoothly… good preparation (and a kitchen with plenty of bench space and a big oven!). Here’s the menu …

My favourite online Christmas present shopping options..

I’m going to keep this short and to-the-point… I’m in LOVE with online products and app, and think that you should be too this Christmas!

Think yourself lucky that I’m willing to share my little secrets with you.

What’s more, these amazingly awesome products are made by locals in my region (Geelong & Torquay) and Melbourne. I’ll be giving these presents this Christmas. If you want to as well simply place your order right now online, and have it arrive on your doorstep – could it get any easier?

The Christmas decorations are coming down from the top shelf

Does everyone store their Christmas decorations in the highest, most out-of-reach place in their house? It makes complete sense, you would happily bet money that you are not going to need them for at least another eleven months when you put them there!

I have been retrieving my boxes and bags of decorations from those far-reaching places. However I did purchase my new favourite Christmas decoration when I was recently on holiday in Queensland… which could have been prompted by the view from my room…

Actually let me go back a little further. Before I went on holiday, I was rediculously busy (which resulted in me needing that holiday, and why I haven’t been giving you guys much love). I decided not to return to my corporate job in Melbourne and started a new business (all in the last 3 months!).

I will write a detailed post about The Inkling Effect, styling my home office, and what I’ve been cooking for my workshops… but until then, those interested can read all about my new little baby The Inkling Effect here: http://www.theinklingeffect.com.au

The details of my new business can wait… we were talking about Christmas decorations –  I do love a good tangent though!

So I bought a gorgeous drift wood wreath on the Sunshine coast in Queensland, and packed it in my suitcase to bring home for our door… and it was worth all the effort.

I couldn’t help myself, and added the star fish and turquoise ribbon to give it even more of a coastal Christmas theme.

You can head over to my Pinterest Christmas board for even more Christmas decoration inspiration.

Or read my Aussie Christmas Menu post that is always extremely popular at this time of year.

You may even want a complete overload of Christmas mania from my previous Christmas decoration posts…

Stay tuned for my next post about my favourite online Christmas gifts this year…

Cheers,

Bernice

Christmas decorations sorted, here’s a sneak peek…

It was time to change my Christmas decorations, so I started a Pinterest Christmas board for inspiration. I then waited until we moved into our new house to get a feel for the place before I bought anything.

I think I have everything for the new look this year it’s not on a tree, or decorating a table… Yet!

I am getting ahead of myself, but I thought I would give you a sneak peak anyway… I am really happy with the combo, and love the fresh and cheery colours.

On the first day of Christmas… I finished my Christmas wreath!

On the first day of Christmas my true love said to me…. “Now we’ve moved house can you finish off some of these crafty projects you have started (and never finished)!”

Amongst the box unpacking (we moved into our new house last week… you can visit my blog about building the house at http://www.lot271.com) I found some time to make my toilet-paper-roll-Christmas-wreath as I promised I would in my Christmas decoration post. I couldn’t have made it any earlier because I needed the extra time to collect enough toilet rolls! I think that is a good enough excuse, don’t you?

The Christmas Decoration Dilemma

Deciding on a Christmas decoration theme can be quite stressful…. the colour combinations, themes, shapes and patterns are endless. It is hard to know where to start.

Do you stay traditional? Introduce some different colours? Change your decorations to be a little more modern, hand made or something that represents your personality a little more?

We are hosting Christmas this year – 13 adults and 2 toddlers… so I have started thinking about the table setting, menu and decorations.
